With Mother’s Pride Block Party and Daytime Dance Party already on the schedule for the coming weeks, the team has just announced that it will similarly host A Night for Gaza fundraising event on Friday, June 7. All proceeds from the event will go to Medical Aid for Palestinians, a UK-based charity dedicated to working for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.
Taking place at Lost Lane, the long-time home of late-night Mother celebrations, A Night for Gaza kicks off at 10pm on June 7. A line-up of Mother-favourite DJs, including Billy Bunzari, Ghostboy, Glamo, Kelly-Anne Byrne, Ruth Kavanagh and Steve Manning will be keeping the tunes flowing through the venue’s main room and library throughout the night.
Mother will similarly welcome Elaine Mai, May Kay and Faye O’Rourke to its A Night for Gaza event, where the trio will share a very special live performance of their recently released track ‘We Are’. The track was recorded with young people from the Lajee Center, a “community-based grassroots creative cultural center that works with new generations of Palestinians as they continue their ongoing struggle for justice and rights for Palestine and all Palestinians”.
The announcement of Mother’s event comes as news of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues, with more than 36,000 Palestinians having been killed since Israel launched its genocidal military offensive on the Gaza Strip following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
“As queers and artists, we stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.??✊???”,” Mother wrote in a statement announcing the event.

Mother co-founder Lisa Connell additionally told GCN: “It’s important for us as Mother to host this fundraiser for Gaza. We stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and know that many Irish LGBTQ+ folk and our allies feel strongly about the ongoing genocide, the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the ongoing occupation”.
A Night for Gaza is the latest in a long line of Mother’s charity partnerships, with the team regularly supporting other LGBTQ+ organisations such as Trans & Intersex Pride Dublin and GCN.
Tickets for Mother’s A Night for Gaza event are on sale now through Eventbrite.

During this global COVID pandemic, we like many other organisations have been impacted greatly in the way we can do business and produce. This means a temporary pause to our print publication and live events and so now more than ever we need your help to continue providing this community resource digitally.
GCN is a registered charity with a not-for-profit business model and we need your support. If you value having an independent LGBTQ+ media in Ireland, you can help from as little as €1.99 per month. Support Ireland’s free, independent LGBTQ+ media.
