Irish celebrities, from Hozier to Brian O’Driscoll, have come out in support of marriage equality – but we may have found our most influential ally to date in Bosco.
In the 1980s, RTÉ’s Bosco shaped the childhoods of many Irish children. While the perpetually 5 year-old, fiery-haired puppet technically isn’t old enough (or human enough) to vote – he has pledged his support for a Yes vote, saying that he was teaming up with Dustin the Turkey to spread the word.
Bosco made the comments on Moncrieff to spread awareness of WEEE Ireland’s battery-collection campaign for Laura Lynn, Ireland’s only children’s hospice, before the topic turned to the referendum on May 22.
