Following the passing of Junior Larkin last month, some friends have organised a part tribute, part fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses.
The night will be part tribute, part fundraiser to generate cash to help with funeral expenses. Larkin’s family have approved and will be there in strength, say organisers.
DJ Aggie and DJ El Styra are behind the event, which is supported by the burly beauts of Dublin Bears, and have promised “a night of Stock Aitken Waterman Heaven”. There’ll also have some special guests performing live.
Larkin was a fixture of Dublin’s ’90s gay scene and enjoyed some success as his drag alter-ego, Kylie O’Reilly. He passed away in July.
“Although Junior will not be known to many, to some he will be remembered as Kylie O’ Reilly, Dublin’s most prominent drag queen of the early 90s, a potty-mouthed Dubliner who entertained us all before Alternative Miss Ireland ushered in a drag renaissance and the likes of Veda, Shirley Temple Bar, and of course, Panti became the queens of the day,” wrote GCN editor Brian Finnegan in an eulogy on this website last month.
Admission is free, but there will be an opportunity to donate on the night.
