Oppenheimer actor Nick Dumont comes out as trans masculine and non-binary

According to to Dumont's reps, "they identify as a trans masculine non-binary person".

Nick Dumont, widely recognised for their performance in the Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer, has shared a personal update about their identity. While continuing to use their birth name professionally, Dumont’s publicist announced that they have adopted a different name for personal use. According to their reps, “they identify as a trans masculine non-binary person”. Dumont also updated their pronouns to “they/them” on Instagram, marking a meaningful step in their journey.  

Fans have warmly supported Dumont’s announcement, with many praising their courage and authenticity. Dumont joins a growing list of public figures, such as Chloe Grace Moretz, Julia Fox, and Brandon Kyle Goodman, who have come out and celebrated their LGBTQ+ identities in 2024.  

Best known for their role in Oppenheimer, portraying Jackie Oppenheimer – Oppenheimer’s sister-in-law alongside Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh. Oppenheimer led the way winning seven Oscars this year, as well as the same amount of wins at the BAFTAs. 

Dumont has also starred in TV series like The Gifted and Aquarius and the horror film Wrong Turn. They are currently awaiting the release of their next project, the horror movie New Me.

While Dumont has kept a low profile regarding this personal shift, they made headlines in May when they debuted a new shorter hairstyle, signalling a new chapter in their self-expression. They uploaded a film photo with a reference to Chappell Roan in the caption reading, “Your favourite sweetheart’s favourite sweetheart”. Fans quickly rallied around the change, praising their bold new look with an outpour of support.

One fan commented under the post, stating, “OMG! ICONIC! This BEAUTIFUL ENERGY you’re putting out into the universe!!!!”

“Nice, new era,” another follower commented under their post.

Under a more recent post following Dumont’s recent announcement, another fan commented in support, stating: “Congrats on coming out, Nick! Enjoy being you and your newfound freedom “.
