This August, two queer collectives, Peach and Squeeze, are coming together for a special one-off event in Galway as part of Galway Pride, with Peach returning to Hen’s Teeth in Dublin the following week. While both events promise great music and good craic, the collaboration is part of something deeper, a growing movement to build more FLINTA-focused queer community across Ireland.
If you’ve been to Peach in Dublin, you’ll know what to expect: great sets, a fun, inclusive crowd, and an atmosphere where people look out for each other. Founded by DJ and broadcaster Kate Brennan Harding, Peach is a queer party for FLINTA (women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender) folks and their friends. Since launching, it’s become a regular fixture in Dublin’s queer nightlife scene.
But this month, Peach heads west for the first time. On Friday, August 15, Peach teams up with Squeeze, a newer collective based in Galway, to co-host a day-to-night Pride party in Club Áras na nGael. Squeeze will run the daytime event from 3pm to 7:30pm, followed by Peach’s night-time party from 8pm to midnight.
The Galway event is all about connection—bringing people together across scenes, generations, and geography. Tickets are priced accessibly, and the venue is an Irish-speaking space, so partygoers are encouraged to bring their cúpla focal.
“As someone living in Galway, I’m really excited to help bring these worlds together,” says Kate. “There’s something powerful about connecting scenes across the country, sharing what we’ve built in Dublin and learning from what’s already happening here. This collaboration with Squeeze is about showing up, building relationships, and finding ways to support each other, wherever we are.”
Kate added, “Peach was always about more than just Dublin… We want to support a network of queer organisers who are doing brilliant work around the country. This isn’t a one-off, we’re hoping it’s the beginning of more collaboration.”
Val Hourigan, one of the producers of Peach, agrees. “We know from talking to queer people across Ireland that there’s a real need for spaces like this. It’s not about one scene or one city, it’s about building a web of support. Whether that’s dancing, checking in on each other, or just knowing there’s something to look forward to, these nights help keep people connected.”
Squeeze has quickly built a name for itself in Galway by holding space for queer people in a way that feels grounded and welcoming. Their manifesto centres on community care, consent, and making space for everyone, especially femmes, trans folks, and people who don’t always feel safe in typical club spaces.
“The manifesto came out of chats between pals about what we wanted from a night, and how we wanted to treat each other,” says Lucy Birmingham, one of Squeeze’s co-founders. “It’s simple stuff, but it matters: respect the floor, look after your friends, ask for consent. That’s what makes people feel like they belong.”
After Galway, Peach returns to Hen’s Teeth in Dublin on Thursday, August 22, for another night of FLINTA-centred music and community. While both events are exciting on their own, the teams behind them are already thinking about what comes next.
“This isn’t about competition, it’s about connection,” says Val. “Queer communities thrive when we build together, not in isolation. The more we share space, resources, and support across collectives, the more vibrant and resilient the scene becomes not just in one city, but across the whole country.”
Whether you’re in Galway, Dublin, or somewhere in between, these events are an invitation: to dance, to meet new people, and to be part of something that’s slowly, steadily, growing.
