Drink Poacher’s G&Ts and do your bit for men’s health with proceeds going to the Movember Foundation Ireland

GCN’s resident cocktail columnist Oisin Davis is leading the Poacher’s G&T tasting in Pantibar tomorrow, Wednesday, April 19 from 7 pm – 10 pm.

All proceeds from the gin and tonic tasting will be donated to the Movember Foundation Ireland, a charity which focusses on men’s health issues including prostate and testicular cancer, suicide prevention, mental health and more.

The Facebook event page gives a little more information about what people can expect when attending the tasting:

Distillers from all around the 32 counties have been getting busy and creating some beautiful spirits. The four drinks that will be on the menu are Glendalough Distillery Wild Gin from Wicklow, Mór Irish Gin from Offaly, Gunpowder Gin from Leitrim made by The Shed Distillery by P. J. Rigney, and Bonac 24 Irish Gin from Wicklow.

Davis explained why the proceeds are going to Movember Foundation Ireland:

“I’ve been working with Movember for years as my charity of choice as cancer has effected so many people I am close to and I feel that any money raised to combat it, is always worthy.

“They operate in a highly efficient, cost effective manner so I always know that the donations raised for Movember go far. Updates are regularly posted by their global teams indicating exactly what they have researched or funded and they have made some great breakthroughs,” he said.

Movember is a charity funded by donations and not by the government so that they can mobilise rapidly to “challenge the status quo and invest quicker in what works.” The organisation claim to be on track to “reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%” by 2030.

Tickets for the event are available here for €11.23 – that’s less than one G&T in many Dublin establishments these days and all proceeds will go to Movember so if you think you’ll be even a little thirsty tomorrow, make sure you buy a ticket in advance as places are limited.
