As part of the World AIDS Day Festival 2025, Poz Vibe Tribe and GCN are proud to present the premiere of Out of Shadows, a poignant short film by acclaimed artist and filmmaker Pradeep Mahadeshwar. This very special fundraising event will be hosted at Trinity College Dublin on December 1 in partnership with Trinity’s LGBT+ Staff Network. Tickets are on sale now, so grab yours before they sell out!

Out of Shadows is a powerful short documentary spotlighting the experiences of immigrants living with HIV in Ireland, bringing important, underrepresented stories to the forefront. Shot against the scenic backdrops of Wicklow, the Dublin Mountains, and Dublin city, the film follows the lives of Luis Noguera Benitez from Venezuela, Jordi Moya Roset from Barcelona, and Prateek Bhardwaj from northern India.
These three individuals, shaped by different cultures, geographies, and societal attitudes toward identity, sexuality, and sexual health, chose Ireland as their new home. Through their stories, the film explores the complex intersections of migration, sexuality, gender, health, and the nostalgia of lands left behind, highlighting both the challenges and triumphs faced by queer immigrants living with HIV.

The film is a celebration of resilience, solidarity, and the enduring human capacity to embrace life and love beyond stigma.
The screening of Out of Shadows will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Poz Vibe hosts and HIV activists Robbie Lawlor and Veda, who will lead a conversation with the three main actors and director Pradeep Mahadeshwar.
Pradeep Mahadeshwar is an Indian queer immigrant filmmaker and activist who has called Ireland home for the past 15 years. Out of Shadows was born out of genuine friendships, a sense of solidarity, and the frustrations he has experienced as a migrant artist.

This World AIDS Day event will be opened by a special set by queer DJ Manwelli to get us in the mood for the film. What’s more, all attendees will also be invited to an afterparty in Street 66 following the main event, to enjoy some drinks and to chat about the film.
Please be informed that adult themes will be covered during the panel, including topics that some listeners might find uncomfortable.
Proudly supported by Trinity LGBTQ+ Staff Network, the ‘Out of Shadows – A World AIDS Day film premiere’ event is a fundraiser for GCN. The event will take place on December 1 at the MacNeill Theatre in the Hamilton Building (Pearse Street entrance) at Trinity College Dublin. Doors open at 6pm and the film screening starts at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now. Grab yours before they sell out!
