Calling all queer creatives, artists, illustrators, designers and photographers! Would you like your work to feature as the cover of the Pride issue of GCN? We’re launching a competition for your work to feature as the cover image for our flagship issue.

GCN is the national LGBT+ press in Ireland. We pride ourselves on having visually arresting and dynamic covers every month and our Pride edition is no exception. In fact the Pride issue is our biggest and busiest of the year and is released right in the midst of the Pride festival.

To give a little inspiration – this year Pride globally marks the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Locally, the theme of Dublin’s Pride Parade and festival in celebration of this milestone is Rainbow Revolution. It honours all the amazing activism and social change that our community had effected and lead the charge on across the past five decades.

GCN’s Pride issue will be chock full of content celebrating the Rainbow Revolution and we thought it was only right that we open up our doors and invite you fabulous creative queers to respond to the theme of Pride in 2019 and what it means to you. We’re open to all formats, ideas and creative forms. The work doesn’t have to be new (Terms and Conditions below) but should not have been a magazine cover before and/or published extensively  elsewhere.

We work collaboratively at GCN and the winning cover image will chosen by the team.

We’ll be running a colourful feature about all the submissions we receive and will profile the shortlisted works. The winning submission’s creator will be profiled separately in the edition.

Eligibility: The competition is open for all artists of 18 years of age or older.

Copyrights: All of the images that you will be submitting are images of original artwork created by yourself or are artworks created by an artist who authorised you to submit the images on their behalf. Images submitted by you do not violate the privacy rights, publicity rights, copyright or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity. You may not post, distribute, or reproduce in any way any copyrighted material, trademarks, or other proprietary information without obtaining the prior written consent of the owner of such proprietary rights.

Accepted Media: Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital, printing, and mixed media are eligible. Basically anything that can appear on the cover of a magazine.

Artwork Subject Matter: The artwork must not include material that is pornographic, sexually explicit, violent and/or racist.
