On Monday, July 3, Amazon Prime shared a fun first look at the R-rated gay rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue with two new video clips.
Based on Casey McQuiston’s 2019 book of the same name, the steamy movie follows the fictional US President’s son Alex as he is forced into a sham friendship with Prince Henry of England after their feud culminates in toppling over a royal wedding cake. However, these enemies turned fake friends become something much more romantic than either of them saw coming.
Two videos were released on social media, which gave fans a sneak peek into some scenes. The first clip sees Alex and Henry being asked to “scooch” in closer together while being interviewed, while the shorter second clip shows the boys leaving a polo match after engaging in some activities that weren’t polo friendly (those who read the book will remember the scene quite well).

It’s no surprise fans went crazy on Twitter with reactions, excited to finally get a better look at the film. Before the videos, first-look photos were released in June showing Alex and Henry, played by Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine, as well as supporting cast members such as Uma Thurman playing the President of the United States.
would love for someone to tell me how I’m supposed to survive this movie? i can’t even handle 10 seconds

While the movie will change a few things, such as the absence of June, Alex’s sister, the early videos indicate the movie will, for the most part, follow the raunchy, exciting and heartwarming plot of the book.
Matthew López is making his directorial debut with Alex and Henry’s story, but he is no stranger to writing, with credits including his play The Inheritance. He was also responsible for adapting the script from McQuiston’s book, together with writer Ted Malawer.
While no official trailer has been released yet, there is a good chance it is coming soon because the movie drops on Amazon Prime on August 11. After the exciting first look, we officially can’t wait for Red, White & Royal Blue!
