Voting Yes in the upcoming Marriage Equality Referendum on May 22 seems like a no-brainer for the younger generation – but what about the older demographic who aren’t sure?
Student’s at Trinity came up with the idea of making a video in which gay students call their relatives to start a conversation about the referendum.
“In Ireland, and particularly here in Trinity, students and young people are the most likely to vote yes in the referendum,” reads the video description. “But we typically have the lowest voter turnout. However, it’s still unclear how the older generations are going to vote. And, given that older Irish people are more likely to turn out and vote on the day, this demographic could swing the vote in a very big way.”
