“Audiences can expect a mix-tape of theatrical text, Irish dance, urban licks, stunning aerial artistry, comic turns, gender discombobulation and, of course, banging tunes.”
When it premiered last year, RIOT, created by iconoclast theatre-makers and event producers THISISPOPBABY, was heralded as their “most entertaining show to date” and won the best production award at Dublin Fringe. Audiences ignited social media with the hashtag #RIOTdublin, sharing their rave reviews .
For those who didn’t get to experience the joy and wonder of this amazing show during its previous run, RIOT is back, hosted by Outcider, and set to take over Dublin nightlife once again between July 6 and 15 in Vicar Street.
THISISPOPBABY has teamed up with Mother for the past two years to bring YESTIVAL to the people of Ireland to celebrate the anniversary of the Yes vote in the marriage referendum. The event has kept wowing its attendees, with performances from Dimitri From Paris, the THISISPOPBABY End of The World Teadance, Mother DJs and many more making it an event not to be missed!
The organisers describe RIOT as “incendiary night of soulful entertainment, which unites the best and brightest theatre, music, comedy, drag, and circus artists, in a glittering and fantastically Irish roulette of the brilliant, brazen and downright bizarre.
Check out a clip of the show :
Performing in the show will be Queen of Ireland Panti, Emmet Kirwan (Dublin Oldschool), electro-pop Irish dance duo and Riverdance alumni Up & Over It, Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists Lords of Strut, Megan Riordan (Once, The Musical), Ireland’s only Cyr wheel artist Ronan Brady, Alma Kelliher, Nicola Kavanagh and Adam Matthews, in this “powerful explosion of performance, feeling and glitter that pulsates with the energy of the dance floor.”
To celebrate the return of RIOT earlier this week Lords Of Strut gave a free lunch-time street performance earlier this week and we can’t wait to see them perform again together with the other super talented artists.
If you missed it last year or you simply loved it so much you are gagging for more make sure you catch it in Vicar Street between July 6 and 15.
Grab your tickets quick as several of the shows are already sold out!
