Sligo Pride 2026 kicks off on Friday, September 11, promising a jam-packed programme of events. Taking place across 10 days, this year’s festival is themed ‘Building Community’, representing the goal of fostering an inclusive environment and a strong sense of belonging across the county.
The celebration commences with a Flag Raising at Sligo City Hall at 3pm. The following day, Saturday, September 12, will offer a Cuppa & Clean-Up event, where people can socialise and meet before coming together to help spruce up the town before the Pride march. On Sunday, The Model will present Blindr, a heartfelt comedy-drama about love, family and second chances.
The festival starts off strong the next week, with two events on Monday, September 14. The first is another Flag Raising, this time at Sligo County Hall, and the second is a GAYmes Night open to all ages.
On Tuesday, there is Pride, Paint & Sláinte hosted by FrameRun, where people can get crafty while enjoying some drinks and good music. Wednesday offers Queercal Comhrá, celebrating the community through the Irish language, and Kitchen Sink Stories, an open-mic storytelling night.
On Thursday, help boost the Pride spirit by attending the Poster Making event. The next day, there are a couple of events in the evening, including a screening of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and Pink Friday Karaoke at Swagman Bar.
The main celebrations take place on Saturday, September 19. The day gets underway with the Pride March, which starts from Maeve’s Square at 11am. Following the march, the celebrations continue at Knocknarea Arena with Fleadh Bród. Expect a full afternoon of food, crafts, speeches, performances and more. In the evening, the party will head to Bourbon Bar for Bród After Hours, featuring music and entertainment from drag performer AIDXN G and DJ Ruth.
The festival concludes on Sunday, September 20. There will be a Cool Down event at 11am, followed by a hike up Knocknarea led by the Wild Atlantic Gay group.
