Rapper Snoop Dogg – currently known as Snoop Lion – is in the dog-house this morning for allegedly posting an anti-gay slur to his Instagram account.
The post – which has since been deleted – consisted of a photo of two men in bed from another Instagram user’s feed and the caption: “U n ya boyfriend since u like Jumpn on my page disrespectn bitch boy go suck ya man n get off my line f. A. G.”
The picture and comment were deleted from Instagram at around 1am, more than 40 minutes after they were posted. The rapper’s spokespeople have yet to release a statement on the matter.
In 2013, Snoop – Calvin Broadus, Jr – told NME that he didn’t think homosexuality would ever be fully “acceptable” in rap music, due to hip-hop’s ”masculine” attitude.
However, he went on to say that he had “gay homies”.
“I don’t have a problem with gay people. I got some gay homies. Yeah, for real. People who were gay used to get beat up. It was cool to beat up on gay people back then.
“But in the ’90s and 2000s, gay is a way of life. Just regular people with jobs. Now they are accepted, not classified. They just went through the same things we went through as black.”
