A stunning new LEGO set currently running in the LEGO Ideas competition pays tribute to the Stonewall National Monument in New York City, a site that marks the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. This build, crafted with approximately 3,750 pieces, captures the spirit of diversity, equality, and resilience while celebrating the upcoming 10th anniversary of the monument in 2026.

Designed by Feacebricks, the creator behind the popular Charlie’s Room LEGO Heartstopper set, this project showcases the Stonewall Inn, Christopher Street with its iconic rainbow pedestrian crosswalk, and its New York-style brown street sign. The set also includes Christopher Park, home to George Segal’s Gay Liberation sculpture, and the historic 59 Christopher Street building, once the headquarters of the Mattachine Society. In this reimagined model, the building features a bar, a trans LEGO fan’s apartment, and an LGBTQ+ helpline office.

One of the most powerful elements of this set is its diverse cast of 13 minifigures, making history within LEGO. It includes:
– A same-sex marriage proposal between two men
– The first-ever lesbian minifigures, depicted as a couple with their baby
– LEGO’s first-ever trans minifigure
– The first drag queen minifigure

Reflecting on the choice of minifigures, Feacebricks assures: “Representation matters.”

Fans on the LEGO Ideas platform have praised the project, with one user commenting, “We need more creators like Feacebricks, who remind us how deeply connected we are. Awesome project! Really hope you get the recognition you deserve!”

This project is not only a detailed model but also a celebration of real-life history and diversity, allowing LEGO builders to explore and appreciate the significance of the Stonewall National Monument in an interactive and meaningful way. To help make this set official, Feacebricks needs just a few more votes on the LEGO site.
