The 66th Emmy Award nominations are in, and ‘Orange is the New Black’ is up for 12 awards.
Taylor Schilling has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy series, it was announced today. She will duke it out against Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Lena Dunham, Edie Falco, Melissa McCarthy and Amy Poehler for the award.
Kate Mulgrew (Red) was also nominated in supporting categories, while Natasha Lyonne (Nicky), Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes) and Laverne Cox (Sophia) are up for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. Laverne Cox’s nomination is the first time a trans person has ever been nominated at The Emmys.
The Netflix original is also up for Outstanding Comedy Series against Modern Family, Louie, The Big Bang Theory, Veep and Silicon Valley.
Game of Thrones came out on top, however. The HBO series received a whopping 19 nominations in total!
