Broadway show ‘A View From the Bridge’ was briefly stopped at the weekend after a theatre-goer fainted when actor Russell Tovey took his top off.
After a call went out for medical assistance, Davin Cuthall was attended to by audience members at the Lyceum Theatre until paramedics arrived and took him to a nearby hospital. Towleroad reports that the fainting spell brought the entire show to a halt because Cuthall was seated in one of two on-stage seating areas.
A “mortified’ Cutchall later apologised to Tovey for the disruption on Twitter. He also confirmed that he was fine and had not suffered a heart attack as originally suspected.
‘Won’t forget this trip anytime soon. Thanks, New York!’ Cuthall tweeted on Monday.
The incident is the most recent in a long line of high-profile mid-performance interruptions: in 2013, Helen Mirren walked out of the Gieldgud Theatre in full Queen Elizabeth regalia to scold passing drummers who were disturbing The Audience.
