This weekend saw one of the biggest drag conventions hit New York City as the stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race gathered under one roof to meet fans, kiki with each other and host panel discussions. Here’s all the tea from RuPaul’s DragCon NYC.
During their panel, Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova revealed this weekend that the duo’s irreverent web-series “UNHhhh” will make a comeback this month.
UNHhhh gained a devoted cult following after it aired on YouTube for the first time in 2016. The web-series was picked up by Vice who produced The Trixie and Katya Show for television.
Earlier this year Katya took a break from drag, and season eight winner Bob the Drag Queen joined Trixie for the final episodes of the series.
The series will air on Wow Presents Plus on October 17, before it will stream freely on YouTube.
After revealing she had been scammed by drag queen designers Chau Chic, Kim Chi showed up at DragCon in a stunning Queen of Hearts themed gown put together at the last minute by Sho Konishi. The season eight finalist put Chau Chic on blast after exposing an elaborate scam that left Kim with three poorly constructed outfits for the weekend. As a final blow, Kim threw the garments on the floor and invited fans to use them as carpets as they approached the queen for their meet and greet.
Season ten favourite Asia O’Hara shared a touching photo of Aquaria’s and Kameron Michaels’ mothers blessing her booth with “sweet maternal love”. Asia shared the emotional moment her sisters’ mothers visited her stall as her own mother had passed away.
Season nine queen Peppermint took to the stage to perform with her Head Over Heels castmates. Peppermint made Broadway history this year when she became the first openly transgender woman to originate a principal role on Broadway.
The weekend concluded with a Battle on the Runway Afterparty that saw the season ten cast take to the main stage at the PlayStation Theatre.
