Australian Football League (AFL) star Mitch Brown makes an appearance in the NSFW music video for rising Australian pop artist ANDY’s new single ‘can’t wait’. Brown made history as the first AFL star to publicly come out as bisexual in August 2025.
Directed by Harry Welsh, the music video is a hyper-queer look at the homoeroticism taking place in sport, in particular in the locker room and the fantasy that can arise from those environments. “I wanted to demonstrate what a culture shift could look like. What if it was safe? What if being gay or queer was just f*cking normal?” says artist ANDY.
Having grown up in Manly, Sydney, and attended an all-boys Catholic school where rugby played a big part, ANDY based the concept on this upbringing. “The line between homophobia and homoeroticism was invisible,” said the artist when describing this upbringing, leaving him in a limbo between “fantasy and fear.”

The highly provocative video is filled with homoerotic sports-related visuals, such as locker room showering, wrestling, and in one particularly steamy visual, Brown spits Gatorade into ANDY’s mouth before kissing him.
ANDY wanted the track itself to feel primal, mixing football chants and celebrations with personal recordings taken from the artist’s own sex tapes to create the desired effect of “a constant push and pull.”
Starring alongside Brown is former rugby league player, Ian Roberts, who was the first high profile sportsperson to come out publicly as gay. Both Brown and Roberts were attached to the initial concept of the music video, with ANDY saying “they are the message” and their histories are an integral part of it.
“This is what masculinity can look like. It’s fluid, soft and so beautiful,” the pop artist adds.
Brown is not shying away from his sexuality and instead has chosen to embrace it, championing queer diversity in the world of sports.
The former AFL player said, “I spent so much of my playing career being conscious of what I said, how I behaved and what people might assume about me, and now I’m on a footy field, although a different code, kissing another man for a music video. There’s a nice full-circle feeling to that.”
