Martin Shkreli explains why he raised the price of AIDS drug, Daraprim, by $13.50 to $750 per tablet.
Martin Shkreli, aka the “most hated man on the internet” or “pharma bro” ,explains via live-stream why his former company raised the price of Daraprim to 5400% after buying the rights to produce it.
Shkreli claims that the reason he originally raised the price the price of the drug was he could fund research to develop new drugs with less side effects.
“There was no incentive to make a new drug,” Shkreli said. “I feel pretty good about what I did.”
Shkreli was arrested last week in an unrelated incident, in which he “engaged in multiple schemes to ensnare investors through a web of lies and deceit”, according to US prosecutors.
