The latest project from Irish filmmaker Glenn McQuaid is The Restoration at Grayson Manor. This campy black comedy that blends the gothic with intense melodrama is ultimately grounded in a fractious mother-son relationship. Providing a fresh queer take on The Old Dark House movie, it’s funny, frightful and full of surprises. Lucky for you, we have three pairs of tickets to the Dublin preview on Tuesday, November 3, in the IMC Savoy to give away to our readers!
Jacqueline (Alice Krige) is the matriarch of House Grayson, and she desperately yearns for grandkids. Much to her dismay, her son, Boyd, is a gay cocaine addict who despises his mother. Starring as Boyd is none other than Glee alum Chris Colfer.
One day, in a freak mirror-shattering accident, both of Boyd’s hands are chopped off. Fortunately, his mother has enough money to summon the services of Dr Tannock, an expert in reconstructive surgery. His revolutionary prostheses work is the catalyst for a series of events that are predicated on Boyd’s hands being detached from his body and Jacqueline spying an opportunity to mould him into the son she had always desired.
The historic estate where Grayson Manor is set is Stradbally Hall in County Laois, as Irish audiences may recognise if they have ever attended Electric Picnic.
The Restoration at Grayson Manor had a strong run across the international film festival circuit, travelling to Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, Fantastic Fest in Austin, Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF), and Trieste Science+Fiction Festival. There was also the Irish premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival earlier this year. Now, the film is set to screen at cinemas in Ireland from November 6.
But to see the film before its wider release, enter our competition below! All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning the tickets is answer the following question:
Who stars as Boyd in The Restoration at Grayson Manor?
The competition closes on Monday, November 2, 2026. Winners will be contacted directly and shared on social media.
