Competition: Win tickets to special preview screening of critically acclaimed trans film Crossing

Celebrate Pride by attending any one of four special preview screenings of Levan Akin's new film Crossing.

To celebrate Pride, Volta Pictures, MUBI and GAZE are teaming up to host four preview screenings nationwide of the critically acclaimed trans film Crossing. The good news doesn’t end there, as GCN has tickets to give away for each event, spanning Cork, Dublin, Galway and Belfast.

From Swedish director Levan Akin, Crossing is a moving tale of identity and unlikely connection. It follows Lia, a retired teacher who has made a promise to find out what happened to her long-lost niece, Tekla.

When Lia learns from a neighbour, Achi, that Tekla might have left their Georgian homeland and be living in Turkey, Lia and Achi set off together to find her. Arriving in Istanbul, they discover a beautiful city full of connections and possibilities. But searching for someone who never intended to be found is harder than they expected – until they meet Evrim, a lawyer fighting for trans rights.

As Lia and Achi weave their way through the city’s backstreets, Tekla starts to feel closer than ever.

The fourth feature film from Akin, Crossing is filled with impressive emotional immediacy as two hesitant strangers overcome ideological and internal boundaries to join forces for a common mission.
