GCN is giving one lucky reader a chance to win two tickets to see Pastiche perform live in the Grand Social at the end of this month. The emerging pop artist is set to release her debut EP Freak Show Symphony on May 20, featuring the hit singles ‘Disco Junkie’ and ‘Written & Directed’.
The official release launch party takes place on May 25 in the aforementioned venue and you can count on the singer to put on one hell of a performance. In March of this year, she joined Veda for a special guest slot on Witchy Wednesdays in The George, giving audiences a taste of what’s to come from her headline show.
Speaking to GCN on the EP, she explained that she wanted to write “songs for all the people who feel like a bit of a freak, I feel like a freak all the time!” The dancefloor has had a huge influence on her music, and when talking about the track ‘Disco Junkie’, she commented: “I wanted it to capture me and my friends on a crazy night out, just going wild now that the clubs are back open and we can dance again.
“Having that escapism taken away over lockdown, especially with such important and safe spaces like The George being closed, was really hard on a lot of people,” she continued.
In terms of ‘Written & Directed’, a song released on May 6, she said it “is inspired by the revenge, drama and horror films of Tarantino, Hitchcock, Ridley and Coppola and the idea that we can savour each delicious moment of the fantasy of someone getting what they deserve.”
Pastiche will be supported in the Grand Social by ROOUE and SJ Talbot and is also lined up to play a series of festivals across Ireland this summer such as Sea Sessions, SoFFt Nights, and Indie Fest.
