The 59 year-old, who was named ‘The Greatest White Soul Singer Alive’ by Rolling Stone, will release Nostalgia on October 24 via Island Records.

The collection, which includes instrumentation and production credits by Lennox alongside her long-time collaborator, Mike Stevens, will feature songs popularised by the likes of Billy Holiday, Nina Simone and Louis Armstrong.

Speaking of her decision to make a concept record, Lennox said “I was just curious, I thought ‘I wonder what my voice would be like. Would these songs suit my voice?’ It was a little challenge. I just sort of got to know them, became friends with them really and had a great deal of joy in the process”.

At a listening party for the record at Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s Masonic Temple last week, the former Eurythmics singer told the LA Times about her expectations for the project, “You can’t be proscriptive about people’s reaction. I really do want to be loved, but I’m prepared to be hated”.
