Gays go wild as Kylie Minogue cast in new murder-mystery series

The beloved pop star will play herself in the 8-part Netflix show, The Residence.

Kylie Minogue is joining the cast of a new murder-mystery Netflix series, and gay Twitter is overjoyed with the announcement, particularly because the pop star will be playing herself.

The show will be called The Residence, and it is based on a 2015 book called The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by author Kate Andersen Brower. It is set to take place in the US President’s residence at the White House in Washington DC.

 

Each sixty-minute episode of this detective-style show will focus on finding the person responsible for a murder that occurred on White House property during a high-profile state dinner. The suspect list will include an extensive list of the property’s staff members.

The show’s official synopsis says, “132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner. The Residence is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.”

 

The eight-part series is sure to be a success since it is being produced by Shonda Rhimes, the American television screenwriter who created Grey’s Anatomy and Bridgerton.

One of the leading roles, Cordelia Cupp, will be played by Orange is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba. Her character has been described as an “eccentric” detective responsible for leading the core investigation of the murder case.

The extensive cast list includes Andre Braugher, Susan Kelechi Watson, Eliza Coupe, Jane Curtin, Edwina Findley, Uzo Aduba, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mary Wiseman, Randall Park, James Babson, Izzy Diaz, Paul Fitzgerald, Ros Gentle, Chris Grace, Juliette Jeffers, Sumalee Montano, Brett Tucker, Nathan Lovejoy, E. L. Losada, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez and Rebecca Field.

We don’t know much about the plot line yet, but the promise that the pop music sensation will be starring as herself on the show was enough to garner an immediate gay fan base.

 

After producing number-one albums in the UK across five decades and selling over 80 million records worldwide, Kylie is the highest-selling Australian solo artist of all time.

While the official release date is yet to be announced, filming for what is being described as the Kylie Minogue Netflix series is already underway!
