Gearóid Farrelly has been announced as the Grand Marshal for Wicklow Pride 2025. The gay comedian will lead the rainbow-filled parade on Saturday, July 5, the final day of the week-long festival.
Born in Dublin, Gearóid has established himself as a prominent figure in the Irish comedy scene. He broke through after reaching the finals of the So You Think You’re Funny? competition at the Edinburgh Fringe and winning the Bulmers Nuthin’ Butt Funny Newcomer award.
He has gone on to support iconic comedians like Joan Rivers, Sarah Millican, Patton Oswalt and Joanne McNally, and tour his own shows Gearóid Rage and Glamour Hammer.
In addition to stand-up, he is the host of the Fascinated podcast and co-host of Agony Rants alongside Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh. He also competed on Dancing with the Stars Ireland this year in the season’s only same-sex pairing.
Chairperson of Wicklow Pride, Patrick Bracken, expressed his excitement about this year’s Grand Marshal.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Gearóid Farrelly leading our 2025 Pride Parade,” he said.
“His wit, warmth, and unwavering support for the LGBTQ+ community make him the perfect choice. Wicklow Pride is all about celebrating inclusivity, joy, and visibility, and we know that Gearóid will bring his trademark humor and energy to the occasion.
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to Wicklow Town for what promises to be an unforgettable celebration!”

Gearóid will lead the parade, which kicks off at 2pm at Abbey Street car park, before moving through the town. Participants will then be invited to Black Castle for a free event filled with music, stalls, food, family-friendly fun and more. There will also be sensory-friendly zones available.
The parade will be the culmination of the week-long festival, which kicks off on June 28. There is sure to be something for everyone on the programme, with an array of spectacular entertainment, events and community activities planned, from comedy nights to events honouring LGBTQ+ literature, morning swims and more.
