SAG Nods for 'OITNB' and 'The Imitation Game'

The Imitation Game, Orange is the New Black and The Normal Heart all received nominations from the prestigious Screen Actors Guild on December 10.

 

This year has seen a worthy amount of LGBT representation on our screens and the SAGs seem to think they’ve done a pretty good job.

The Imitation Game was nominated for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture’, the equivalent to ‘Best Picture’. Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley were nominated for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor’ and ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role’ respectively.

HBO tv-movie The Normal Heart, about HIV/Aids epidemic in the 1980s, earned nominations for both Mark Ruffalo for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries’ and Julia Roberts for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries’.

In the category of ‘Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series’Jim Parsons and Eric Stonestreet picked up nominations for their respective roles in The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family, while Uzo Aduba earned a nod for her role as Crazy Eyes in Orange is the New Black in the ‘Outstanding Female Actress in a Comedy Series category’.

Tatiana Masley earned a nod for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series’ for her numerous roles in Orphan Black; Orange is the New Black, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory and Brooklyn Nine-Nine all earned nominations for the ensemble cast.

The SAG Awards will take place on January 25, 2015.
