When it comes to gender expression, fashion is a central tenet, and for the trans community, shapewear can play an essential role in affirming gender identity.

Indeed, from binders to tape to breast forms, shapewear can open up a world of silhouettes for people of all genders. Having said that, shapewear is not always an affordable or accessible option for everyone, which is why Trans Creative Collective Eire are hosting a shapewear swap in Dublin next month.

From 2pm to 3:30pm on Saturday, December 13, Trans Creative Collective Eire will be taking over the theatre at Outhouse for a shapewear swap and a winter market featuring trans artists and small businesses.

The collective has issued a call for shapewear donations, so if you have items sitting in your wardrobe you no longer wear or have never used, this is a brilliant opportunity to help your trans siblings out. The group are looking for donations of binders, kinesiology/trans tape, breast forms and bras in good condition. The collective is also seeking sealed make-up, packers, packing gear, gaffs and tucking gear in new and unused condition.

Trans Creative Collective will be accepting donations on December 11 and 12 from 10am to 4pm. The donation location has yet to be confirmed, so keep an eye on the collective’s Instagram page to stay in the loop.

All trans shapewear items will be given out for free to those who need them on the day, and the collective will also be collecting donations for TENI and Outhouse.

Please note that the shapewear giveaway is restricted to those aged 18 or over, or to those under 18 who are accompanied by a guardian.
