On February 10, 2026, former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher and his partner Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post via their official accounts. The couple has been dating since 2022 and celebrated their third anniversary last October 2025 with a heartfelt social media post. In their anniversary post, Ralf spoke about three years of spending “almost 24/7 with the love of my life. So amazing to have a strong and loving relationship in life”.
The statement regarding their engagement was posted in both German and English, reading “we are pleased to confirm that Ralf Schumacher and his partner Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne will be getting married. Both are delighted by the many kind congratulations they have received. Ralf and Étienne will not comment on any further personal details and kindly ask that their privacy be respected. Thank you for your understanding.”
Ralf Schumacher competed in Formula One between 1997 and 2007. In 2001, he won the San Marino Grand Prix and the Canadian Grand Prix. He has been a TV personality and entrepreneur since his retirement from racing, working as a commentator for Sky. Racing certainly runs in the family, with Ralf’s older brother being none other than seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. Ralf’s son, David, is now also a racing driver.
In 2024, Ralf Schumacher came out as gay via his Instagram, hard launching his relationship with Étienne, with love pouring in from friends, family, and F1 fans. The post was captioned, ““The most beautiful thing in life is when you have the right partner by your side with whom you can share everything”. This made him one of only a handful of out LGBTQ+ F1 racers in the sport’s history, denoting the importance of representation within the industry.
