INTOUCH-BRUCE-JENNER-COVERDespite Bruce Jenner not commenting on his gender identity, it hasn’t stopped the media from running transphobic headlines and stories. Kim Kardashian spoke for the first time to say that her family supports Bruce “no matter what”.

Following InTouch Weekly‘s offensive magazine cover last week, in which Jenner’s face was photoshopped on to a woman, Kardashian addressed the rumours about her step-father. The TV personality told ET Online that Bruce is “the happiest” she has ever seen him and responded to the cover by posting this image with the caption, “Family First”.

“Well we support Bruce no matter what, so we were just at his house hanging out and we wanted to take a picture, that was not like a secret message like, ‘We support Bruce…Of course we support Bruce 100%,” she said, while not confirming or denying the rumours.

“He’s our dad so we support him no matter what, and I think when the time is right, he’ll talk about whatever he wants to talk about. I just think it’s his story to talk about, not really mine.”

Many celebrities have come forward to condemn the magazine cover. Trans activist Janet Mock said, “Let’s be clear. This is not Jenner’s story. Jenner has not stepped forward as a woman or uttered a word about being transgender.”

Comedian Russell Brand dedicated a whole episode of his web-series The Trews to discuss the issue of how the media reports on trans issues, calling it “one of the most accepted forms of prejudice”.
