Fabulous queer events happening in Ireland this April

From a make-up workshop to a David Lynch themed cabaret, the events gods are smiling down on us.

The cherry blossoms are in bloom, the grand stretch has returned, and our diaries are in need of some fabulous queer events to be pencilled in this April.

That’s right, this month we have a beautiful bounty of LGBTQ+ events across Ireland to enjoy. We’re talking comedy, drag, fundraisers – there’s even a David Lynch-themed cabaret night calling our names.

Here’s what’s on our queer agenda this April.

Watch with the Warriors
Saturday, April 7, 2pm
The George, Dublin
Fresh off the success of their Men’s Six Nations watch party, the Emerald Warriors are hosting another gameday. This time, the LGBTQ+ rugby team will be screening the Ireland vs England Women’s Six Nations Game in The George. In addition to bringing queer rugby fans together, Watch with the Warriors will also serve as a fundraiser for the club.

The search for Davina Devine’s next protegΓ© kicks off this April and May with five heats to finalise candidates for the eighth edition of The Devine Apprentice. Pop along to Thirsty Thursdays at The George, root for your favourite up-and-coming performer and follow the competition from the heats to the semi-final to the glorious grand finale on June 25.

Phoeno Album Launch

Queer Sex Ed Zine-Making Workshop

Thursday, April 23, 1pm
Join the Trans* Association of Ireland Reading Room for an online reading group. At this session, the focus will be on Cassius Adair and Aren Aizura; ‘The Transgender Craze Seducing Our [Sons]”; or, All the Trans Guys Are Just Dating Each Other’. Everyday Make-Up 101

This inclusive workshop, geared towards trans folk but open to everyone, will guide participants through the ins and outs of everyday makeup, courtesy of Queer Hawk’s Ailsha. And don’t worry, you won’t be put on the spot. Simply sit back, relax and learn from the pros.

 

Neuroqueer: Stories by us, for us

NeuroQueer! is a brand new resource from ShoutOut that explores what it means to be both queer and neurodiverse. Meet the incredible folks behind the resource at the official launch, where you’ll hear stories, mingle with community members and leave having learned different perspectives. Dublin Lesbian Line Presents Bealtaine: Stories of Transformation
Thursday, April 30, 7.15pm
Hen’s Teeth, Dublin
Celebrate the pagan tradition of Bealtaine at this fabulous session hosted by the Dublin Lesbian Line. At this event, attendees are encouraged to share stories based on the theme of transformation, change, becoming and renewal. Queer artist and performer Lolo will host proceedings, DJ Rhyzine will provide the tunes and tarot reader Aine will be reading fortunes galore. You can grab tickets for the event here.
