Caitlyn Jenner Could Face Manslaughter Charges

Following on from a vehicle incident in February, in which one woman died and seven others were injured, it has emerged this week that Caitlyn Jenner faces the prospect of being charged for manslaughter.

The lead detective on the case plans to recommend to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office that Jenner be charged next week. The recommendation is based on how fast Jenner was going at the time of the car crash, in which 69 year-old Kimberley Howe, was killed.

Seven others were injured when Jenner rear ended a car on a Malibu motorway on February 7. Jenner said in subsequent police interviews that she was being followed on the freeway by photographers. At the time of the incident, Jenner was driving a Cadillac Escalade, which was towing a trailer. The car was forced into oncoming traffic, where it collided head-on with a Hummer. Howe, driving a Lexus, was killed at the scene.

Howe’s stepchildren filed a lawsuit against Jenner not long after the crash, citing that Jenner’s negligence caused their mother’s death.

In California, the maximum sentence for the charge is one year in jail.
