American Idol runner-up, and Mississippi native, La’Porsha Ranae, was asked for her views on the LGBT community, and she didn’t hold back.
On a conference call with the press and speaking about Mississippi’s new anti-LGBT legislation, La’Porsha was sweet enough to say she doesn’t think gay people are not animals. (Ah, bless.) But she still has her issues with the gay “lifestyle”.
Jezebel reports that Ranae, who comes from McComb in Mississippi, said, “This is how I feel about the LGBT community: They are people just like us. They’re not animals as someone stated before. They’re people with feelings. Although all of us may not agree with that particular lifestyle for religious reasons, whatever the reason is, you still treat each other with respect. Everybody is a human being. We should be able to coexist with one another.”
Then, just after digging that hole, the American Idol (not) got her shovel out again to dig another big one.
“I am one of the people who don’t really agree with that lifestyle. I wasn’t brought up that way. It wasn’t how I was raised. But I do have a lot of friends and a lot of people that I love dearly who are gay and homosexual and they’re such sweet, nice people. We should just respect each other’s differences and opinions and move on.”
Conflicted much?
Still not fully aware that she’d alienated the gay community, something no wannabe diva should ever do, La’Porsha posted this oxymoron, sorry, tweet, confirming she totally thinks being gay is a choice:
Girl, we think you just lost yourself a career!
