• Australia: Queensland’s Attorney-General announces plans to scrap the “gay panic defence” by year’s end. Under current legislation, accused murderers can use unwanted sexual advances as a partial defence. (SBS)

• HIV infections among men who have sex with men (MSM) in the UK are still at record-high levels, new data indicates. Of the 6,095 people newly-infected with HIV in the past year, 3,320 were gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (Pink News)

• Tom Daley joined pioneering Olympics diver Greg Louganis for some synchronised diving at the weekend. “I can’t believe I’m about to do a synchronised dive with Greg Louganis, if I’m honest,” said Daley. (GT)

• A British man with HIV who received a prototype therapy designed to eradicate the virus from his body has reportedly shown no signs of the virus in his blood. However, talks of a “cure” are premature; antiretroviral therapy (ART) – which the patient was also taking – already reduces HIV to undetectable levels. (BBC)
