• Trump’s administration removes guidelines protecting trans students’ bathroom rights. Yesterday the Trump administration revoked Obama-era guidelines which protected trans students’ right to use bathroom which match their gender-identity. The decision has drawn the ire of LGBT rights advocates. (Washington Post)

• The National Education Association (NEA), the biggest labor union in the US, doubles down on its protection of LGBT civil-rights. In a press release, the NEA President Lily Eskelsen Garcia said: “Every student matters, and every student has the right to feel safe, welcomed, and valued in our public schools.” She called Trump administration plans “dangerous” and confirmed that they reject this plan as it goes against the organisation’s “core values”. • One in Three British people believe that being gay is a choice. A YouGov study revealed that 31 per cent of Brits think gay and lesbian people choose homosexuality. Furthermore, almost half of respondents (49 per cent) believe that gay people are born that way. (Attitude)

• A straight member of the US Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), says she was bullied for not being gay. Candice Wiggins said that “98 per cent” of the WNBA are gay and that it proved to be a “toxic” environment to her as a straight woman. “My being heterosexual and straight, and being vocal in my identity as a straight woman was huge,” Wiggins said before indicating that WNBA members “mirror” men. “I was proud to be a woman, and it didn’t fit well in that culture.” (Yahoo! • Bisexual boxer Yusaf Mack beat up a Twitter troll after he was mocked for being gay. However the troll returned to social media to say: “I [sic] rather have a video of some [sic] beating me up then [sic] a video of someone seeing me take a dick up my ass any day.” Watch Mack’s act of aggression below.
