Mr Gay Ireland Comes Second in Mr Gay Europe Competition

Ireland's very own Stephen Lehane came second in the Mr Gay Europe competition over the weekend.

Mr Gay Europe

Mr Gay UK, a 37-year-old dog walker named Matt Rood, beat our own Stephen Lehane to the title of Mr Gay Europe on August 5.

The Mr Gay Europe site reports that Rood won the Social Media Challenge (SoMe) and My Project challenge, he came second in the preliminary interview (won by Stephen Lehane), the photo challenge and the sports challenge, and he came third in the written test and forth in the online vote.

His total score came to 845 out of maximum 1200.

“With his big heart, his kind attitude but also strong devotion, and with a project that shows that he really put his money where his mouth is, Matt both showed us his commitment and the fact that you don’t need to be a twink to win Mr Gay Europe,” said Mr Gay Europe president, Tore Aasheim.

Mr Gay Ireland, 24 year-old Stephen Lehane (who scored 815 points) was first runner-up, with Mr Gay Scotland coming second running up with 755 points. Mr Gay Wales came 4th.

(Was there block voting at this thing? Because the UK and Ireland snatched all the top spots!)

Just kidding! Congratulations to all involved – even the English fella who beat us.
