The Abortion Rights Campaign has just released a new video which calls on people in Ireland to make their opinion known in the sixth March For Choice which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 30.
“It’s Time to Act,” the Abortion Rights Campaign Facebook post from earlier today reads. “We have waited too long. We have been patient for too long. We are tired of waiting.”
“We need to act. Our government needs to act. And YOU need to act!
“Join us at 6th Annual March for Choice 30th Sept to make your pro-choice voice heard, this is your last chance before a referendum is called.”
Referendum
Earlier this year, the pro-choice Strike 4 Repeal movement saw thousands occupy O’Connell Bridge and march across Dublin’s city centre to spur the Irish government to call a referendum.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has since confirmed that he does plan to hold a referendum on abortion and the eight amendment next year.
The Taoiseach’s announcement came after the Citizen’s Assembly voted in favour of making abortion available in Ireland in April this year.

Time To Act
The new Abortion Rights Campaign video highlights the issues that those seeking abortions face and indicates that “it’s time to act”.
“This September, we’ll be marching on Dáil Eireann for the sixth time. This year, the Citizen’s Assembly proved that Irish people are pro-choice,” the Abortion Rights Campaign video explains.
“When a suicidal woman can be denied an abortion if her doctor says she’s not suicidal enough, we need to act.”
“Join us at the Garden of Remembrance, Parnell Street at 2pm on Saturday 30th of September and make your voice heard at the last March For Choice before the Referendum.”
