Primary Teachers : This Post Is For You!

Are you a primary school teacher? Well, the INTO is calling on teachers to celebrate diverse families via an awesome competition.

Different Families, Same Love Poster

The theme of the competition is ‘Different Families, Same Love’ and it aims to both celebrate the diversity that exists in modern Irish families and to address homophobic and transphobic bullying in schools.

From the group’s press release:

Families are at the heart of all our lives. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some families have a mother, some have a father, some have a mother and father, some have two mothers, some have two fathers, some children live with other family members like grandparents or aunts and uncles while some families have no kids (just grown-ups).

Some children are born into their family while others are adopted or fostered. Sometimes families live together and sometimes they might live in different places. A family is when people love and take care of each other.‌

There are some awesome prizes on offer too like an iPad for your class, a hamper of books for your school, plus loads of run-up prizes and entry to a raffle for €100 voucher for all participating teachers!

Prizes will be awarded to coincide with International Family Equality Day (IFED) and International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) in May 2018.

This competition is open to all primary schools and special schools in the Republic of Ireland.
