As part of the celebrations for Dublin Pride week, Google will play host to pair of essential happenings for the queer community. Best of all- they’re free!

First up, on the evening of June 28, GAZE on Tour, a free screening of GAZE Irish shorts, will take place in The Foundry. In partnership with the International LGBT Film Festival Dublin, the series of shorts will explore the past, present and future of the Irish LGBT+ experience, showcasing a spectrum of scintillating storytelling produced in Ireland.

The line up includes the films ‘Tuesday Night’ – a dark comedy about the sensationalised media representation of trans people, ‘The Condom Man’ – the story of how Irish people fought the system, provided front-line and core services for haemophiliacs and other HIV and AIDS patients, and ‘Lily’ – the tale of an adolescent girl with a secret, and a violent homophobic attack.

There will also be ‘I’m Roger Casement’, a beautiful dance short about the queer legacy of the Irish revolution, and ‘Three Friends’ – the story of young gay man finding himself, based on a Colm Tóibín short story.

Following the screenings, there will be a reception with food and drink provided. You can snap up tickets for the event before they’re gone here

On Friday June 29, there will be an afternoon talk given by ShoutOut’s Bella Fitzpatrick discussing their community of volunteers and activists committed to improving life for LGBT+ people. Through sharing personal stories and educating school students, parents, guardians, teachers, youth workers and workplaces on LGBT+ issues, the group have been a frontline support to the queer community. Bound to be an inspiring and eye opening talk, you can register for tickets for the free event here.

With a host of events taking place across the city during Pride week, make sure to add these two to your calendar!
