21 year-old Chicago rapper CupcakKe has confirmed that she is safe after posting a worrying tweet.
The artist tweeted on Tuesday, January 8, “I’m about to commit suicide” making friends and fans extremely concerned about the artist’s safety.
Fellow singer Charli XCX, who has collaborated with the rapper in the past, posted a message to CupcakKe via Twitter that read, “We all love you so much CupcakKe. From the bottom of our hearts. Please confide in friends and family. You are such a beautiful and wonderful person and we cannot lose you.”

Meanwhile, rapper Iggy Azelia tweeted, “Sending love to @CupcakKe_rapper I understand how hopeless and overwhelmed with negativity we can sometimes feel.”

It has since been confirmed that Chicago police took the 21 year-old to hospital after performing a safety check at her home.
Yesterday at 6.40 pm local time, she updated her fans on her well-being via Twitter, writing, “I’ve been fighting with depression for the longest ..sorry that I did it public last night but I’m ok. I went to the hospital & I’m finally getting the help that I need to get through, be happy, & deliver great music. thanks for all the prayers but please don’t worry about me.”

CupcakKe had previously opened up about her struggles with mental health issues on social media. She tweeted in August 2018 ahead of the release of her album Eden, “I try to be as positive as possible but I just want to say I’m at a very low & depressed point in my life. I [have] been feeling this way for a while so please understand if you never hear from me again… it’s nothing no one could have did to make my life better … it’s just me and my demons.”
CupcakKe has been a long-standing ally to the LGBT+ community, releasing her dance hit LGBT in 2016 and appearing on last months cover of Gay Times Magazine.
