WATCH: Dublin Dance Festival Announce Lineup With Stunning Video

Dublin Dance Festival have unveiled their 2019 programme, and with the return of THISISPOPBABY’S Riot, alongside many more established and exciting dance acts, this event is already shaping up as one you do not want to miss.

The now global sensation Riot, from eclectic collaborators THISISPOPBABY will open the festival in this, its 15th year, with Queen of Ireland Panti Bliss at the show’s helm. Expect a mind-blowing cocktail of incredible moves, jaw-dropping circus skills, gut-punching spoken word and so much more in this company’s dazzling celebration of all things anarchic.

Ireland’s national theatre – The Abbey – will play host to a number of exciting dance works from around the world. In Session, Irish dancer Colin Dunne will collaborate with the award-winning Flemish-Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui in what promises to be a unique exploration of movement and sound.

Bringing the festival to a close will be the Irish premiere Rosas danst Rosas by Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.

As well as bringing world-renowned global acts to Irish audiences, the Dublin Dance Festival aims to showcase the diversity of the work of Irish choreographers and dance artists. Liz Roche Company will debut the Dublin premiere of I Thou.

Fresh off its success at the Dublin Fringe Festival, Liv O’Donoghue’s dark but humorous work After will explore the dark future that lies ahead in a beautiful blend of film, physicality and performance.

Inventions by the Irish Modern Dance Theatre will see Oona Doherty collaborate with 84 year-old dance legend Valda Setterfield in a thrilling intense performance, backed by an incredible cast including Ashley Chen, Kevin Coquelard and Mufutau Yusuf.

Also included in the programme are a number of performances aimed at younger audiences. Company Wang Ramirez’s WAM We Are Monchichi and Mónica Munoz Marín’s Princesses Can Be Pirates are both innovative works that children and adults alike will find captivating.
