Ricky Martin is coming back for another shot at creating the perfect World Cup dance anthem, 16 years after his first effort.

Vida, this year’s FIFA World Cup theme song, is a product of the SuperSong competition, and was produced by Salaam Remi who has worked with plenty of high profile artists like Sting, Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill. The track was written by Florida-based Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Elijah King.

Martin, who has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide, said of being chosen to sing the winning track: “I’m excited to finally release Vida and share this special song with the world. I can’t wait to perform it and for the World Cup to start”. SuperSong, a project helmed by Sony and FIFA, received 1,600 songs written by aspiring musicians from 29 different countries.

The mastermind behind the project, Sony Music Brasil President told, “The main idea was to bring together a pop star and music lovers around the world to create a song for the official World Cup soundtrack, using a great power and reach of the social media”.

The singer travelled to Brazil to film the uplifting video, watch it in full below.
