On October 26, Outhouse will be the location for Beyond Suppression – an important and welcoming community forum for people living with HIV.

Thanks to the advancements with HIV medication and the scientific consensus around U=U, Undetectable = Untransmittable, we are living in a brighter era of HIV. However, the understandable emphasis on PrEP and getting people living with HIV to become virologically suppressed is taking all the attention medically, politically and socially.

Therefore ACT UP Dublin is hosting a community forum aimed at bringing people living with HIV together to talk about their needs ‘Beyond Suppression’. The outcomes of this forum will be tangible. ACT UP Dublin will report on concerns raised by the community and bring them to relevant stakeholders, such as Minister for Health Simon Harris TD, HIV clinics, civil societies and the general public. This forum will create a mandate for actions that ACT UP Dublin will take on behalf of the community’s needs. However, the forum outcomes are not for ACT UP alone, we want all the community to feel activated and empowered, and to participate in any way they feel comfortable with.

This forum is going to be a safe, non-judgmental and empowering event. It is time the community came together to fight for an Ireland that is a more supportive and informed place to live with HIV.

The forum will be facilitated by Shaun Dunne, writer and performer of RAPIDS – the documentary theatre piece which was born out of testimonies and stories from Irish people living with HIV.

‘Beyond Suppression’ a community forum for people living with HIV takes place on Saturday, 26th October from 2pm in the theatre at Outhouse, 105 Capel Street, Dublin 1.
