BBC Three’s RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has just been renewed for a second season after the huge success of its first run. The spin-off of the original beloved US competition show was much anticipated by fans across the globe before it premiered on October 3.

Drag Race UK gained extreme popularity from episode one, with 6.5 million requests to view the show on the BBC Three iPlayer alone just over halfway through its first season. 

Now before the first instalment of the new series is even over, RuPaul herself has confirmed that there will be a season 2 and auditions for hopeful queens are now open!

In regards to the show’s success and its continuation, RuPaul said;  “I want to thank the BBC and all our fans for their overwhelming support of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. This season’s queens proved that Britain’s Got Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent and I want to see more! Here’s to another season of love, laughter and light!”

Fans of the show have been expressing their excitement about the show’s renewal on Twitter, with many already making suggestions for guest judges they would like to see on the judging panel and other celebrities they hope to see brought to life in Snatch Game performances on the second season.

The exact date for the second season has yet to be announced although we do know it will be sometime in 2020.  The show has also yet to announce any changes to its judges for the second run, although it is assumed that RuPaul and Michelle Visage will remain a permanent fixture accompanied by the rotating Alan Carr and Graham Norton as well as a weekly guest judge.

Drag Race UK is to continue with its sixth episode airing on both the BBC Three iPlayer and Wow Presents Plus tonight at 8 PM. This episode the remaining five queens; Baga Chipz, Blu Hydrangea, Cheryl Hole, Davina de Campo and The Vivienne will put their creative marketing skills to the test as they are challenged to create their own advertisement as part of this weeks maxi-challenge. Popstar Cheryl will join the Ru, Michelle and Graham on the panel tonight to judge the queen’s performances, while Drag Race alum Katya is also said to make an appearance.
