The Cork Pride 5K is set to return on Saturday, July 25, with organisers expecting their biggest race yet. Hosted by Frontrunners & Briskwalkers Cork (FRBW), the race has become one of the highlights of Cork’s Pride calendar, combining sport, community and celebration in an event that welcomes runners, joggers and walkers of all backgrounds.
Now in its third year, the race has moved to Marina Park, offering participants a new off-road course, improved facilities, including on-site toilets, and an enhanced race-day experience. The event will begin at 11.00am and is officially measured and chip-timed for participants aged 18 and over.
Since its launch, the Cork Pride 5K has enjoyed impressive year-on-year growth. The inaugural Athletics Ireland-affiliated race in 2024 attracted around 200 participants, while the 2025 event sold out with 400 entries. This year’s organisers are preparing for as many as 600 participants, reflecting the event’s increasing popularity both within the LGBTQ+ community and among allies.

The race has also been a success beyond the finish line. Frontrunners & Briskwalkers Cork received an award for their work at the GALAS 2025. The club was also recognised at the Out and Outstanding Awards, where it won Best Community Event, underlining the growing impact of the annual race on Cork’s sporting community.
Founded in 2018, Frontrunners & Briskwalkers Cork is part of the international Front Runners network and provides a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ people and allies of all fitness levels. The club has built a reputation for encouraging participation, whether members are taking their first steps towards a 5K or training for longer-distance events.
Every entrant in this year’s Pride 5K will receive a commemorative finisher’s medal, while prizes will be presented to the leading finishers during a post-race awards ceremony. Entry also includes post-race refreshments and admission to the official after-party later that evening.
Last year’s event saw €2,000 donated to The Gay Project Cork, while all additional proceeds supported club initiatives.
