The amazing group at Glória LGBT+ Choir certainly is, as they’re gearing up for their annual Christmas concert, packed with yuletide favourites representing different languages and traditions from around the world. With almost 30 years of history, Glória LGBT+ Choir has been at the forefront of creating more inclusive spaces for the queer community in Ireland. This year, the choir had a very busy performance schedule, including appearances at Dublin Pride, Wicklow Pride, Navan Choral Festival and the incredible Summer Lovin’ concert. The group also did an amazing opening performance at this year’s GALAS in the Dublin Royal Convention Centre at the Radisson Blue Hotel.

For their annual Christmas concert this year, Glória LGBT+ Choir will return to St Patrick’s Cathedral, in all its magical and gothic atmosphere. The cathedral offers great acoustics and a fantastic organ, which the choir will know how to use at best for their congregational singing numbers.

The musical programme for this year’s concert includes traditional Christmas songs from around the world, some of the iconic Glória classics and exciting new works. An event suitable for all ages, the concert will take place on the last weekend before Christmas, just in time to help you relax after finishing work for the festive season.

This will be the first concert led by the new Musical Director Dylan Walsh, who has been the choir pianist for years before taking over the baton. Earlier in September, the choir also saw a big intake of new members, who will sing at the Christmas concert for the very first time.

“Glória LGBT+ Choir, in continuing a beloved LGBTQ+ community tradition, invites the community to usher in the Christmas season with a concert celebrating love, hope, and togetherness,” Musical Director Dylan Walsh said.

“Our programme promises a magical experience filled with warmth and inclusion, offering a much-needed respite and a reminder of the true spirit of Christmas. Join us for an evening of hope, harmony, and the joy of the season.”

The choir strives to make events as affordable and inclusive as possible for the community. They also acknowledge the Friends of Glória, whose consistent support makes many outreach concerts possible throughout the year.

Glória LGBT+ Choir’s A Glorious Christmas concert will take place on December 20 at St Patrick’s Cathedral, in Dublin, with doors opening at 7:30pm. Tickets are on sale now for €15 plus booking fee through Eventbrite. This event is likely to sell out soon, so grab yours to secure a spot!
