Sorry guys, it looks like HBO’s gay drama ‘Looking’ will not be renewed for a third season.
The slow-burning drama – dubbed the gay version of Girls – finished up its second season this week after being introduced in 2013. HBO confirmed yesterday that it would not return for a third season.
HBO this week released a statement which reads: “After two years of following Patrick and his tight-knit group of friends as they explored San Francisco in search of love and lasting relationships, HBO will present the final chapter of their journey as a special. We look forward to sharing this adventure with the shows loyal fans.”
Though Looking had a loyal fanbase, it couldn’t manage to keep up the ratings of its Sunday night lead-in, Girls.
However, luckily for viewers, the story of Patrick (Jonathan Groff) and his close-knit group of friends will be wrapped up in a Looking special – a film-length episode.
I know dudes – @LookingHBO seasons no more, but think about it – @andrewhaighfilm is gonna direct the movie? @andrewhaighfilm!!!!!!!! 🙂 x

Russell Tovey, who plays Patrick’s love interest, confirmed on Twitter that Looking would not return, but a film would be made and directed by executive producer Andrew Haigh.
Haigh is not a stranger to gay-themed films, as he has already directed the acclaimed British film Weekend.
