After only one week of hitting our screens with its second season, Wednesday once again became the most-watched title on Netflix, hitting 29.1 million views. The new season was shot in Ireland, with locations including Dean’s Grange Cemetery in Co Dublin and Charleville Castle in Co Offaly. But it wasn’t only the beautiful Irish landscapes that made an appearance on the series. Here are some of the talented queer designers from or based in Ireland who worked on costumes for Wednesday Season 2.

Daniel Mooney
A half-Irish, half-Brazilian illustrator and designer, Daniel Mooney is well known among Dublin’s LGBTQ+ community. In addition to his work on costume design, Mooney also has his own clothing brand, called Mundo Moo. His work places people as the primary focus, with a hint of 1990s and 2000s nostalgia. On Wednesday, he worked in the costume department as a crowd costume standby.

Timothy Gibbons
A Belfast-born designer, Timothy Gibbons works at the intersection of fashion, costume, and sculpture. He is best known for his corseted hoodies and handmade approach, which honour Irish craft traditions. Gibbons has done work for some of the leading names in the fashion industry, as well as for A-list celebrities such as Charli xcx. On Wednesday, he worked alongside Mooney in the costume department for the entire production.

Mihai Mar
Born in Romania and raised in Ireland, queer designer Mihai Mar now owns the independent queer-led brand Mar Knitwear. Committed to creating ethically sourced bespoke pieces, the designer hand-picks scavenged materials, waste yarns, and sustainable fibres to create unique pieces. Mihai Mar was revealed to be the creative mind behind Pugsley Addams’ iconic striped jumper in Wednesday Season 2.

Taking to social media, the creator shared: “Working on this has been a true highlight of my career and I couldn’t thank the team enough for trusting me with such an iconic piece! Being able to contribute my craft to a franchise with such an incredible legacy is something I’ll cherish forever.”

Ofelia Haislund
Danish queer designer Ofelia Haislund has been living in Dublin (mostly) for the past 10 years. With a commitment to sustainable design, Haislund founded the brand Fee in 2022 with the goal of making outfits for Dublin’s drag queens, and anyone else who enjoys dressing a little extra. With her background in costume for film, the designer adds a unique point of view to each piece. Haislund worked on part of the new ballroom outfit that Jenna Ortega wore in the new season of Wednesday.

Connor Dalton
Having graduated from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dun Laoghaire, throughout the past few years, Connor Dalton has been working in costumes for anything from feature films to commercials. Dabbling in theatre as a dresser and designer, he has gained years of experience in the industry. Among the most significant productions he has been credited on is the award-winning Irish film The Banshees of Inisherin. On Wednesday, he worked as an assistant costume designer.
