Dublin pop-punk outfit, Kate’s Party, take on Regina Spektor’s “You’ve Got Time” for the Record Store Gay compilation.
The cover version of You’ve Got Time, made famous for being the theme song to Netflix original Orange Is The New Black, will appear on the Record Store Gay compilation. The CD also features Hi Fashion, I Heart The Monster Hero, Florence Olivier, Katherine Lynch & Switzerland, Patrick Kelleher, Gross Net, The Late David Turpin, Brian Conniffe, Gar Cox, Fierce Mild, Feather Beds, GODHATESDISCO, Laura Ann Brady and more.
“Every year on Record Store Day, the cool folks at Record Store Gay put out a compilation of Irish artists covering their favourite queer anthems. We deliberated over a Corrs cover – but eventually settled on our favourite Netflix show’s theme song,” says Kate’s Party lead singer, Sarah Corcoran.
“We incorporated the Orange Is The New Black element into the video by absolutely destroying ourselves with orange paint. The concept of this video also required us to clone ourselves which was a costly procedure but it was worth it.”
Events for Record Store Day 2015 will happen on April 18 at the Outhouse on Capel Street from 1pm – 6pm then, at PantiBar from 6pm – 10.30pm.
Admission to events is free, but with a suggested donation at €10 if possible.
Every cent of the proceeds go towards YES EQUALITY campaign.
