Actor Matt Bomer first came out publicly two years ago, but now he has dropped a bombshell… he has been secretly married for three years!

The Magic Mike star first acknowledged his sexuality in 2012 when he thanked his partner Simon Halls and their three sons when accepting a Desert AIDS Project’s Steve Chase Humanitarian Award. Now he has told Details Magazine that he and his partner got hitched in 2011.

Appearing on the cover of Details, Bomer spoke about his upcoming role as a gay man dying of AIDS in the 80s, in the TV movie adaptation of The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer. Bomer thanked the writer Larry Kramer for playing a huge role in paving the way for gay rights.

The actor revealed that he first read The Normal Heart when he was in high school. “At [the time when I read it], I was clueless and obviously in a different place in relation to my sexuality,” he said.

“I was in romantic relationships with girls – whatever that means at 14. And it completely rocked my world…It’s just an amazing call to arms.”

The Normal Heart is directed by Glee and American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy. Bomer will star alongside Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo and Jonathan Groff.
