Irish singer Pastiche has released the new music video for her single ‘Disco Junkie’, with GCN receiving an exclusive first look. The song, which was released earlier this month, has been flying up the Irish Radio Breakers Chart, currently sitting pretty in the fifth spot.
The music video, which was directed by Louis Maxwell, is set in The George and sees Pastiche and her pals enjoy a vibrant night out in the capital’s iconic queer late bar. It is here that the singer will also perform a live version of her song as a part of Veda’s Witchy Wednesdays on March 18.

Speaking on the music video, Pastiche says: “I’m a very visual songwriter, so the second I wrote ‘Disco Junkie’ I knew the visuals had to be a massive celebration of nightlife. I wanted it to capture me and my friends on a crazy night out, just going wild now that the clubs are back open and we can dance again.
“Having that escapism taken away over lockdown, especially with such important and safe spaces like The George being closed, was really hard on a lot of people,” she continues.
“The video kinda serves as a ‘Covid might actually be over?’ marker for me, which feels odd to say, but it does represent the beginning of the end of these past two years. It wouldn’t have been possible without the direction of Louis Maxwell from Grace Park Productions and our amazing team. I also cannot thank The George enough for letting us film there. We couldn’t have made this video anywhere else and the support we felt that night when filming was electric and I genuinely smile every time I watch the video.”
Maxwell added to the statement, saying: “Working with Pastiche on the ‘Disco Junkie’ video was a non-stop creative collaboration in which we kept elevating each other’s ideas. It was a dream to film at my favourite nightclub in Dublin.
“We couldn’t have done it without the very kind team at The George, Gillian from I.T.W, our fantastic background actors and our assistant producers Aliesha McCarthy and Leah Roche who gave their time to this project. I hope everyone has as much fun watching it as we did making it.”
‘Disco Junkie’ is the latest single from Pastiche’s debut EP Freak Show Symphony. The project will be released on Friday, May 20, with a launch party taking place in the Grand Social on Wednesday, May 25. The singer is also performing at an array of Irish summer festivals, and you can catch her alongside Veda in the George for Witchy Wednesdays on March 16.
